Welcome!

Hello,

Welcome everyone to my new blog. I've been wanting to do something like this for quite sometime in order to better share with all of you some of the hard earned knowledge I've acquired over the years in designing and innovating what some consider to be both the highest quality and most innovative guitar pedals and recording equipment. I could not have done this without the help and experience gained by working on sounds with some of the biggest names in the music industry including Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, The Isley Brothers, and Bob Marley to name but a few. So I guess you also want to hear some inside stories some which I am sure will surprise you.

You know when I look around the guitar pedal industry today it follows the trend like most products sold today they often originate from China and Asia. These products have achieved success using the mass selling methods used by the major chains. This is probably adequate for most people who purchase primarily on price and are not that interested in the upper end of cutting edge performance or top quality.

When I was working in the 1960s with Jimi Hendrix designing some of the first fuzz pedals, treble boosters, and of course the Octavia it was different. New ground had to be broken and we did not have the luxury of looking back over our shoulder to copy from the past. Each artist had to personalize his sound to achieve success .So you had to have the best and fresh sounds to record with. Imagine this!! No internet, nobody to copy as last years sounds won’t make it. People demanded something that was new and exciting!

The philosophy of “Forward Ever Backward Never” has always fuelled me over the years and into the future. The financial bottom line has never driven my designs; my concern is that you’ll get the best equipment it is in my power to make. It is with this philosophy in mind that I've continued to produce some of the highest quality guitar pedals available anywhere in the world, and continue to this day to consistently tweak and perfect them. Pedals like my Bel-Air Wah, the latest evolution in wah pedals which has an improved continuous sweep control with greater range and wah tones, the Axis Fuzz which I first developed in early 1967 to give an additional series of tone colours for Jimi Hendrix, and of course the ground breaking Octavia, our most famous and distinctive creation. The Voodoo-Vibe is an industry standard and now with the new TC Series; Performance Control has come of age illustrating this path perfectly.

As more and more people Worldwide use the convenience of online purchasing we are enabling players to get as close to the best distribution source as possible and become a part of our user family. There is nothing worse than visiting a store and finding out you can’t buy what you want.
Of course it’s great to hear and play the pedals yourself in a shop but we are also working on a plan so that all our existing users who recommend our pedals can participate in our unique reward scheme. Details will be published ASAP. In the meantime you can find a wide range of my pedal line readily available right here to purchase with only a couple of clicks of the mouse.

Once again I look forward to connecting with you all and sharing with you some of the things I've learned over the years, revealing some pretty cool anecdotes about some of the players I've had the pleasure to work with, and keeping you all personally informed of the latest news and greatest innovations going on at Roger Mayer Electronic Design Associates.

Cheers!
Roger Mayer

  1. Just wanted to thank Roger for visiting our store, Music Central in EHT, NJ, and the 30+ guitar "geeks" that came out last week for a great meet and greet with Roger Mayer himself. The pedals sound amazing and everyone was hanging on every word Roger said about his experience of producing sounds with so many rock and roll legends!
